S0 far, really enjoying the truck (except that, as far as ice researched, I can’t permanently turn off the start stop feature without either having a constant warning it needs services or an ecm flash). I was able to get the doors and roof off on Sunday and it was awesome. Only took 30 minutes to get them off so will definitely happen more in the future. A few pics and it’s first official mod(spray in bedliner).

They look pretty bonkers without doors - just seems something more obscure than seeing a regular wrangler without doors.

How much of it is interchangeable with regular similar generation wranglers?

Any Jeep exec pushing the Gladiator who stumbles across this post is probably going to have an actual explosion of validation. Guy with Comanche pickup, into Jeep branding, went and bought a new Gladiator and shows all his friends why.

Awesome! ESS can’t be perminantly turned off, but it’s not bad and you get used to it.

Enjoy it! They are a ton of fun.

About everything front seats and up.  Rear seats are different, though the doors are the same.  Bed, suspension and frame are different.

Bedliner looks awesome. Any pictures from the rear with the top off? I HATE the way the new J L looks with the top off, since there’s so much frame everywhere it’s almost like the top was never removed. The Gladiator looks like it just has rollbars?

So cool to see it without doors/roof. I saw a guy in traffic last week with the doors and front roof off and he and his young kids looked to be loving it.

Yeah, I’ve just never been a fan as a lot of my local driving is stop and go (which i know this is why it was designed). I’m more annoyed by it when its hot out and the ac slows down/doesnt work as well.

And i’m heading on a small roadtrip this weekend for my bachelor party so it will be a ton of fun! U nfortunately, i dont think taking the roof off will be an option for that, as we have too many stops to make with too many valuable things on the inside on the way out.

Yeah, I’m super happy with how it turned out and glad i payed the 75 extra for the top /shiny coat. I didnt get a pic from the back of mine, but listed one below. Its really just the rollbars and the only extra “stuff” is the speaker bar between the seats.

I’ve been joking with my friends that i need to find a J10/J20 cheap to complete the “collection”

Yep! most of the accessories are the same unless they do something with the seats (rear floor mats are gladiator specific)

Yeah, i love the doors off, but the future mrs, not so much, hahaha. The dog was a bit confused and looked like he may a flight risk, so he will be a doors on (or rear doors on only) rider in the future.

Seems to me the stop/start feature would have to wear on the starter.

Another thing that always bothered me about it is the fact that vehicles go into “closed” loop upon startup, which is generally less efficient than when they’re in “ open” loop. So unless they somehow bypass this with stop/start, isn’t the feature pretty pointless?

From what I’ve read, the starters on auto stop/start cars are totally different and can handle the constant use. The car doesn’t go into the closed loop because it’s not turned “off”, so the ECU is able to act as if the engine continued to run. Someone more technical than me can probably provide a better explanation, but basically ESS doesn’t cause any more wear on the vehicle, it’s just freaking annoying

You’re correct. ESS cars have a beefier starter to deal with the much higher duty cycle. Internal components of the engines that have to deal with higher wear from always starting up w/o oil pressure are also usually changed for things the deal with it better.

Not sure what you mean about open or closed loop, the engines pretty much know exactly where they stopped by the crank sensor.

One more reason why I love the Freedom Panels.  So easy to use and store in the bed.

Get a dog seat belt that ties into the Latch system. I had one, they aren’t too bad to use.

Yep, we have one that clicks into the seatbelt receiver, but its a game of giving him enough slack to lean out vs not giving him too much

Makes more sense, I still can’t believe constant stopping/starting has no ill effects on the vehicle though.

Awesome color choice. The non-metallic  gray in FCA’s variety of names is one of their best. (Destroyer Grey, Ceramic Grey, Sting Gray)

Yep! I was set to go get a Granite Crystal Metallic a few works ago, but i was leaving a lot after the test drive and saw a grand cherokee in sting gray and had to order it (luckily in came in 16 days later)
